About me
My background is in the construction industry where I spent many years as a carpentry and building contractor. I am now employed as the Work Placement Coordinator at the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (ITB). My role involves supporting the academic departments in the management of work placements. Previous to this, I was Industry Training Coordinator at the institute, responsible for developing and managing industry training. I have been employed as a lecturer in the past at ITB on both full-time and part-time programmes in the Department of Engineering and Trades.
In recent years, I have acted as Project Officer on a number of EU funded projects relating to up-skilling of the construction workforce in the field of low energy buildings. This work has led to my involvement in design and development of training and coordination of delivery. It is my intention to apply my learning from the MSc programme to the development of e-learning resources that enhance the achievement of educational and training objectives.
I am a qualified Carpenter/Joiner and also completed a three year part-time programme at DIT to qualify as a Craft Based Building Technician. Since I have been employed at ITB, I have completed a Diploma in Arts (Training and Education) with NUI Galway. I have had some previous experience of developing eLearning resources as part of a project that I worked on at ITB for the National Digital Learning Repository (NDLR). See video below for a sample of the work completed.
