The QualiBuild Project
I am currently working on an EU funded project for the up-skilling of construction workers in the area of low energy buildings (see www.qualibuild.ie). This project work included the development and delivery of a new Train the Trainer programme for up-skilling of trainers of construction-related disciplines. This resulted in a blended learning programme comprising four modules delivered consecutively over a five month period. Participants are provided with course content upfront in the form of a training manual (see figure below) for each module and workshop days are then held which focus on tutor led group activities, in a type of flipped classroom approach. In my role as Work Package Coordinator and course development team leader, I had co-authoring responsibilities on all four manuals.
The fourth module in the programme focusses on pedagogical approaches aligned with the objectives of addressing knowledge gaps and the need for attitudinal change in the construction industry. I chose the topic of training for attitudinal change for my MSc Learning Theories module assignment and I was able to adapt this paper and incorporate it into a relevant section of the training manual (see below).
